Celebrate Your Progress

As a woman and single mom I know things aren’t always easy, but the fact of the matter is, is that as difficult as it may be you get so much done. The things that you get done may seem small and insignificant, to you but regardless of how big or small the accomplishment is that you achieve it still deserves to be acknowledged and celebrated.

Celebrating your wins doesn’ t require a 5 course meal dinner party, but as women we have to learn to give ourselves the recognition we deserve. So many times we downplay our achievements, as well as our gifts and talents. Starting a business while working full time and being a single mom isn’t exactly a walk in the park. To be honest starting a business alone isn’t a walk in the park without all of the added things that come with being a single mom and primary breadwinner. Whatever the accomplishment whether it’s that you got your first sale in your business, you potty trained your toddler, you and your teen are learning to communicate better, you are consistently eating healthy or you finally began to see the benefit in self care and made it a priority in your life, It’s worthy of celebration.

So how do you celebrate? First you celebrate by learning to acknowledge the win and not downplay it as if it’s not significant enough. If it’s something you accomplished it’s significant enough, so don’t talk yourself out of it. Another way to celebrate could be to share this win with someone who understands the importance of celebrating wins. Lastly you can celebrate by giving yourself a reward. The reward doesn’t have to be monetary but should be something that’s important and satisfying to you(so be creative). I know for me some of the ways I have rewarded myself for wins are: giving myself a pedicure, buying new nail polish, taking an afternoon to just relax and write or watch a movie or two. There are other times where I have treated myself to lunch or dinner from one of my favorite restaurants, bought myself a book and rarely treated myself to a movie. The monetary rewards are still something I’m working on, because as a mom I sometimes feel guilty for buying things for myself, so this is still a work in progress but I’m getting better.

So today I encourage you to celebrate your wins, big or small. I think celebrating our wins is fuel to keep going, and it also builds your confidence in yourself seeing the things that you have accomplished and overcome. So don’t shrink back, don’t play small, but celebrate those wins like you have something to be proud of because you do! As always remember you are a Worthy Woman!
